The City of Prior Lake is planning to repurpose this park to be a more naturalized open space. This is in order to increase the amount of natural open space within parkland and reduce facilities that require regular maintenance. The city contains more playgrounds and individual neighborhood parks per capita than the national average. This effort is to follow through on Park and Trail System Plan recommendations to decrease maintenance across the park system and provide more sustainable parks.
