On this page, you can help plan for a future Sherburne County Park!
The County is developing a master plan in order to obtain funding to purchase land for a potential new park. This 430-acre property features over a mile of shoreline along Big Elk Lake. Elk River and Lilly Creek run through the property, which also has wetlands, floodplain forest, beautiful oaks, and former agricultural fields ready for restoration. The park will have a natural resource focus that could include scenic overlooks, non-motorized water access, fishing, picnicking, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, bird watching, and other outdoor recreation activities. A rentable space for large events is also being considered.
Please review the two (2) initial concepts using the Concept A and Concept B tabs in the sidebar on the left of the map. Drag and drop the pins to identify and leave comments on features that you feel should be a focus/priority for the phased development of the site.
Zoom into the map to see more detail, zoom out for a high-level view of the concept. Leave your feedback, and then click on the next concept in the sidebar on the left and do the same for that one. You can read, respond to, and like comments left by others as well. We appreciate your feedback!
*Please note that the property is privately owned and not accessible to the public.*
